Feast Mass of The Virgin Mary of Fatima, May 13th.

We reproduce here the 3rd Edition of Roman Missal as released on Mar 2002 introducing the new celebration of the Feast of the Virgin Mary of Fatima (May 13th).

            Entrance Song: Heb. 416
Let us be confident, in approaching the throne of grace, that we shall have mercy and find grace when we are in need of help.

            Opening Prayer
Lord, we who are overwhelmed by the multitude of our sins, have recourse to the special intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Grant, we pray you, that after receiving solace of her tender heart, with the help of your bountiful mercy we may obtain the forgiveness of our sins, through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, in the unity of the Holy Spirit.

            Prayer over the Gifts
We pray you lord to subdue our religious will and grant that with the help of the Blessed Virgin Mary we may celebrate the divine mysteries with purity and joy, through Christ our Lord.

            Communion Song: John 19, 26-27
Jesus said to his Mother: “Woman, this is your Son”, then to the disciple he said “This is your Mother”, and from that moment the disciple made a place for her in his home.

            Prayer after Communion
Lend your helping hand, O Lord, to those who implore you. Having graciously instilled in them the desire to pray, grant that through the intercession of Virgin Mary they may obtain your saving help to avoid all evil and embrace all that is good, through Christ our Lord.

Readings
1.      First Reading : Apoc (11: 19; 12: 1-6. 10)
A Reading from the book of the Apocalypse
A great sign appeared in heaven.
The sanctuary of God in heaven opened, and the ark of the covenant could be seen inside it.
Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman, adorned with the sun, standing on the moon, and with the twelve stars on her head for a crown. She was pregnant, and in labour, crying aloud in the pangs of child birth. Then a second sign appeared in the sky, a huge red dragon which had seven heads and ten thorns and each of the seven heads crowned with a coronet. Its tail dragged a third of the stars from the sky and dropped them to the earth, and the dragon stopped in front of the woman as she was having the child, so that he could eat it as soon as it was born from its mother. The woman brought a male child into the world, the son who was to rule all the nations with an iron scepter, and the child was taken straight up to God and to his throne, while the woman escaped into the dessert, where God made a place of safety ready. Then I heard a voice shout from heaven, ‘Victory and power and empire for ever been won by God, and all authority for his Christ.’

IV.       Gospel: Mat (1:18-23)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew.
She has conceived what is in her by the Holy Spirit.
This is how Jesus Christ came to be born. His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph; but before they came to live together she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Her husband Joseph, being a man of honour and wanting to spare her publicity, decided to divorce her informally. He had made up his mind to do this when the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, ‘Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because she has conceived what is in her by the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a Son and you must name him Jesus because he is the one who is to save his people from their sins. Now all this took place to fulfill words spoken by the Lord through the prophet:
The Virgin will conceive and give birth to a son and they will call him Emmanuel, a name which means ‘God-is with-us.’
